PGL 2014
June 30, 2014
By Mrs Martin, Head of Year 7
151 students from Year 7 went to PGL Osmington Bay in Dorset from Friday 20th June – Monday 23rd June.

It was a hugely successful trip and the sun shone throughout. The students challenged themselves to climb, abseil and jump off of tall, thin telegraph poles!

We had lots of smiles and laughter all weekend and it was great to see the quietest Year 7 students come out of their shells.

I would like to thank all the Chancellor's staff that accompanied me.

By Mrs Telie Tarrant, School Business Manager
Thank you for your patience whilst we continue to work with our online payment provider to resolve the recent issues.

We are aware that there were problems yesterday evening when many of you tried to book and pay for the Challenge Days trips and activities. We are hopeful that these issues have now been resolved. Please use the online payment system to reserve and pay for your child's preferred options.

We will continue to accept payment by cash or cheque if you experience on going problems with the system.

Please be aware that the Music Videos choice for all year groups is now closed and will not appear on the online payment system as it is full.

Chancellor's Sixth Form Year 13 Snowdon Hike 2014
June 20, 2014
By The Sixth Form Team
The Sixth form is proud of the tradition it has in supporting good causes and this year as the year 13 students moved closer to finishing their time at Chancellor's, students once again decided to complete a charity event for their chosen cause.

This year it was Haven House Hospice. Haven House was founded in 2003 and since then it has been supporting children with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses and their families from across North and East London, West Essex and East Hertfordshire. A Haven House representative came into Sixth Form Assembly spoke about the hospice and this was the launch of the funding raising. It is hoped to raise more than £1,500.

The "big event" was organised by the students and that was to travel to Wales and then hike up Mount Snowden. Volunteers were recruited and 14 students made the commitment to do the climb. This started at 03.15 on the Tuesday morning of half term arriving at Snowden just before 09.00. The weather was interesting as it usually is around Snowdon, moving from Rain to Sun then very dense cloud in equal measure as the hike progressed.

Adopting a policy, we are all party of a team, interesting characters developed - the "I didn't realise it would be so steep" ... "Are we nearly there yet ?" Competently 'led' by 'chicken legs Taylor' ! The group made good progress up Snowdon, stopping occasionally to take in the breath taking views. The clouds were never far behind but the hike was a significant success both personally and in relation to funds raised.

Congratulation to all who invested the time and effort into committing to this event and to all who so kindly gave sponsorship - raising so far a total of over £ 1400.

"Gosh"! Look at them go!
June 11, 2014
By Xavier Guerra, Sixth Form Student
On Sunday 8th June, a group of 6th Formers from Chancellor's School took part in the annual "RBC 5k Race for Kids" in Battersea Park in London, raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The event has been running since 2010 and raises money to help the hospital to replace outdated equipment and refurbish the buildings, so that everyone at GOSH can continue to do the fantastic work they do and care for up to 20% more sick children and their families.

We had 23 team members, and managed to raise £1,220 altogether. The race began at 9:35 and took us on the grand tour around the park in beautiful sunshine and 25°C heat. The first of our team to finish was Daniel Renton, who completed the course in 29 minutes.

Mr Whitelock and the 6th Form team would like to express their gratitude to all the friends and family of the team members who very kindly donated, all the volunteers who helped the day run smoothly and to all 23 members of the team who took part. It was a fantastic day that raised an amazing £471,981, and that everyone is looking forward to participating in again in the future.
