Battle of the Bands 2014

On Friday 25th April, the Sixth Form held their largest annual event, Battle of the Bands.

This event attracted the schools best Bands all showcasing their musical talents, in order to be named 2014 champions. Six bands performed in the event from a number of different year groups. These bands included: Tilt shift, Melody 4, A.K.A., Prototype, Blend and Triple Threat.

The evening was presented by Tino Madziya and Nishaant Kaushal, who look to have future careers in show business!, with Mr Parker, Miss Zeal and Miss Philip judging the bands.

The overall winners of the event were 'Blend', second place were 'Prototype' and last year's champions, 'A.K.A.' came third. There were also some great guest performances from two Year 13 students, Julia Jones and Rumour Sopp.

Thank you to all the bands who performed in the event, and everyone else who offered the much needed support, once again making the event a great success!
Hustings

On Friday 25th April 2014 Chancellor's School Sixth Form had the Hustings process for the next Head student candidates.

There were 8 candidates running for the prestigious Head student role. During this process each candidate had to produce a short video about themselves and a speech on why they are best suited for the role.

The next stage of the Hustings process is the interviews which take place this Tuesday and Wednesday. The interviews are not just for the Head student candidates but they are also for the Senior Prefect applicants. The results will be announced on Thursday where they will all find out if they were successful or not.
Summer Extra curricular Activities

Please be advised that Athletics training for all years will start this Monday 28th April, it is vital to attend as there is a County Athletics Fixture on Tuesday 29th April. Athletics training will continue every Monday for all years.

All years rounder's training will take place on Thursday after school, starting on Thursday 15th May. Year 10, 11 and 6th form training will start on Thursday 1st May. The year 11 and 6th form tournament is the following Thursday 8th May.

Please refer to the fixtures section to dates, time and venues of up and coming fixtures.

Student Ambassador Programme – can you help?

Could you be a host family for a young person as part of the People to People Student Ambassador Programme for two nights?

This project is through Enriching Cultural Experiences (ECE) and it will also help raise valuable funds for the school.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower believed that ordinary citizens of different nations, if able to communicate directly, would solve their differences and find a way to live in peace. In 1956, he put these beliefs into action and created the People to People Ambassador Program. Since 1963, Student Ambassador Programmes have taken thousands of young Americans around the world, staying with families to learn about the culture and lifestyle of the host country.

The Student Ambassadors return home with a greater sense of what it means to be a good neighbour and global citizen.

As a 'thank you' for hosting a group of students, ECE will make a donation to the school.

Families that host students will enjoy an enriching experience and also raise valuable funds for the School.

The programme will run on Tuesday 24th June 2014 for two nights and there will be approximately 45 American students who will need looking after. This experience can only go ahead if we have enough families to host all of the students so we need you to volunteer.

The students will have an itinerary which will include attending school for the two days with your child/children. If you are able to host one or even two students or would like to find out more, please contact:-
