Welcome Message

Whether a student joins the Sixth Form for one year or two, he/she can have a valuable learning experience before moving on to the next stage of his/her education.

It is absolutely vital that all students take the opportunities offered to them, both educationally and socially, in order to make those years worthwhile. Students are encouraged to strive to achieve their very best.

In the last couple of years, the school has seen the Sixth Form grow in numbers, and its profile become stronger. There are eight tutor groups led by a strong team of experienced tutors, and this enables us to keep the tutor groups small, which is of benefit when references have to be written for university applications or jobs. There is opportunity for personal contact and for tutors to get to know their students well in a small group. Students are mentored by their Form Tutors regularly. Each year approximately 80% of the Sixth Form go on to university.

There is a large team of Student Leaders, led by the Head Students. The Lower Sixth are invited to apply for a position of year 12 Student Leader (Prefect), and together with the rest of the team run the Sixth Form Committees, Social Events, provide "Buddies" for the new Year 7, organise Duty teams, people to assist at school functions, plus a myriad of other events throughout the school year. This team are also responsible for representing the rest of the school.

The highlight of the year is the Leavers Ball where the Sixth Form wishes a fond farewell to the Year 13 students. The Student Leadership team organise a series of parties, activities and charity events and the Sixth Form Leadership run activities like a Christmas shopping trip. One of the key events in the calendar is the Next Step Conference in July. This event is run to inform both parents and students about the next step after A Levels. It had its inaugural run in July 2001, and it was so successful that it has run each year since.

The Sixth Form at Chancellor's is seen very much as a team. Everyone pulls together to make it run smoothly, and make it a success. If you feel that you want to be part of this team, then please fill in your application form, and start the process!
