Author Visits

We have had a number of authors visit us at Chancellor’s and we have been invited to a number of off-site author events held at other schools. These interactions are always well received by students and inspire renewed enthusiasm for reading. Follow the links below for details of some of our recent visits.

Alex Scarrow

We were lucky earlier this month, to be invited bring a small group of students to participate in the Hertford Children’s Book Festival at Haileybury College where we were entertained by Alex Scarrow, author of the ‘Time Riders’ series of books.

Alex gave us a fast paced and exciting tour through his books, and we had the opportunity to buy books and have them signed by Alex. We are now waiting with baited breath for the last book in the series to come out! To find out more about Alex Scarrow and the Time Rider series, please visit: http://www.alexscarrow.com/.

Chris Bradford

On 28th January, author Chris Brad-ford paid a visit to Chancellor's and Year 7 students and book club members had the chance to meet him. He is not only an author, but a method author. This means that anything that he writes about he performs training of the same subject.

He showed us his previously written books and read us extracts from them. He created an enticing atmosphere, and discussed his new released book, Bodyguard HOSTAGE! With this he showed us some bodyguard techniques gained from his training.

It was a very interesting author discussion, and the audience was always attentive and included. At the end of the visit we were allowed to purchase signed and personalised books, or posters that had been awarded through the visit (for volunteering). Overall it was an extremely memorable and interesting experience.

Dave Cousins

At the Red House Shadowing Event on 26th January, we were lucky enough to meet award winning author Dave Cousins.

Dave gave us a very entertaining run through his books and how he writes. Students were able to talk to him individually and have their books signed.
